LG webOS Signage Display Setup Guide

This guide walks through the complete process of factory resetting and configuring an LG webOS signage display to run the Blackdove SCAP launcher application.

Prerequisites

  • LG signage remote control (with color buttons: red, green, yellow, magenta)

  • Wi-Fi network credentials

  • The display must be factory reset before starting this process

Step 1: Factory Reset

Open the settings menu on the display and navigate to Admin in the left sidebar.

1.1 Enable Admin Mode

The Admin toggle will be set to Off by default. Switch it to On.

1.2 Set Admin Password

When you enable Admin mode, you will be prompted to set a password. Enter six "0's" as the admin password using the number keys on the remote.

1.3 Select Factory Reset

With Admin mode enabled, scroll down and select Factory Reset.

1.4 Confirm Factory Reset

A confirmation banner will appear at the bottom of the screen:

IMPORTANT! Resetting will delete all of settings and installed apps. This action cannot be undone.

Press CONFIRM to proceed.

After factory reset the screen will usually restart. You may need to press power On.

Step 2: Initial Setup - Select "Go to Settings"

After the factory reset, the display will boot into the READY TO USE first-run setup screen. You will see four options:

  • Quick Start / Normal Configuration

  • Go to Settings (select this one)

  • Setting Data Cloning

  • Enterprise Settings

Select Go to Settings and press START.

Step 3: Connect to Wi-Fi

In the settings menu, navigate to General in the left sidebar and select Network.

Select Wi-Fi Connection and connect to your Wi-Fi network. Enter the network password when prompted.

Step 4: Set Automatic Date & Time

Still in the General settings, select Time & Date.

Turn on Set Automatically so the display syncs its clock over the network. Once enabled, the time and date will update to the correct values.

Step 5: Configure SI Server Settings

5.1 Open SI Server Setting

Navigate to Ez Setting in the left sidebar. Locate and select the SI Server Setting tile.

5.2 Select SI Server Setting

On the SI Server Setting screen, you will see two options. Select SI Server Setting (on the left).

5.3 Enter Server Details

Configure the following values exactly as shown:

Setting

SI Server IP

Port Number

Secure Connection

Fully Qualified Domain Name

FQDN URL

Application Launch Mode

Application Type

Value

5.4 Trigger Remote Upgrade

Once all values are entered, press the magenta (pink) color button on the remote control. This triggers the REMOTE application upgrade.

A confirmation banner will appear at the bottom:

Applications will be upgraded from REMOTE

Press CONFIRM.

5.5 Wait for Upgrade to Complete

The display will download and install the application. You will see a banner reading "Upgrade Complete". Press OK to dismiss it.

Step 6: Power Cycle the Display

Turn the display off and back on again (full power cycle). This ensures the newly installed SCAP launcher application starts cleanly.

After rebooting, you will see a notification banner: "START TO UPGRADE APPLICATION", followed shortly by "COMPLETE".

The display will then show "Internet available, Launching app..." as the Blackdove SCAP launcher starts up.

Setup Complete

The display is now configured and running the Blackdove SCAP launcher. It will automatically fetch and display content from the Blackdove platform.
