Samsung Frame: Auto Launch Apps
To configure a Samsung Frame TV to auto-start an app, you can follow these steps:
1. Ensure the TV is Updated:
Make sure your Samsung Frame TV is running the latest firmware. Go to Settings > Support > Software Update and update the TV if necessary.
2. Enable Developer Mode (if necessary):
On some Samsung TVs, you might need to enable Developer Mode to set up certain custom configurations.
Go to Apps on your TV.
Press the number keys on the remote in the following sequence: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.
A Developer Mode window will appear. Enable it and restart your TV.
3. Install the Desired App:
If you haven't installed the app you want to auto-start, do so by going to Apps and searching for it. Download and install the app.
4. Configure the Auto-Start Setting:
Unfortunately, Samsung TVs don't have a direct "auto-start" setting like some other smart devices. However, you can set the TV to return to the last used app upon turning it on. This will effectively auto-start the app if you turn off the TV while the app is active.
To do this, go to Settings > General > Start Setup and select Home Mode instead of Retail Mode (if applicable).
Then, go to Settings > General > Smart Features and enable Autorun Last App and Autorun Smart Hub. This will make the TV start with the last used app when turned on.
5. Use SmartThings or Third-Party Apps:
Alternatively, you can use the SmartThings app on your smartphone to schedule actions on your TV, including launching apps at specific times.
Download the SmartThings app, connect it to your Samsung TV, and explore the automation features to set up your TV as desired.
If your TV doesn't offer an auto-start option for apps, using the "Autorun Last App" feature is the best alternative for getting the desired app to open automatically.
